The Richmond Dental and Medical team exhibited at a pair of key shows recently, in support of the newly-launched, individually-packaged Soft BiteBlock® in sizes small, medium, and large.

Nurse Anesthetists Gather in Boston

AANA 2018

The team first displayed the new Soft BiteBlock® products at the annual congress of the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists. More than 3,000 CRNAs, SRNAs, and anesthesia technicians attended AANA Boston 2018, held September 23-25 at the Hub City’s Hynes Convention Center. CRNAs, SRNAs, and anesthesia techs are a key audience for the Soft BiteBlock®, since they are accustomed to rolling gauze and taping their own soft bite blocks. 94 percent of CRNAs are involved in direct patient care, while 66 percent of CRNAs make purchasing decisions for products & services. More than 43 million anesthetics are administered each year by CRNAs.

Placed between the back molars during procedures requiring general anesthesia, the Soft BiteBlock® protects the ETT or LMA, teeth, and tongue when a patient emerges. Richmond’s Soft BiteBlock® has consistent compression performance, is made from 100% US, medical-grade, purified cotton, and is conveniently ready to dispense. The Soft BiteBlock® family of products is now available for purchase through distributors and the newly-launched Richmond online store.

The Soft BiteBlock® is a jointly-developed product of Richmond Dental and Medical and longtime practicing CRNA Diana Roloff of North Dakota. Roloff came to the Richmond product development team after decades of taking DIY measures, along with her colleagues, to address the issues created by patient bite reflex in anesthesia situations.

Anesthesiologists Convene in San Francisco

ASA 2018The Richmond team next featured the Soft BiteBlock® at ASA San Francisco, the annual meeting of the American Society of Anesthesiologists. The event attracted more than 14,000 anesthesia professionals from around the world, including anesthesiologists, medical universities, med. students, residents, neurologists, and ECT technicians. ASA San Francisco, which ran from October 13-15 at the city’s Moscone Center, featured more than 400 educational sessions, lectures, workshops, and networking opportunities featuring more than 300 exhibitors.

At ASA San Francisco, the Richmond team shared the game-changing attributes of the Soft BiteBlock®, with CRNA, Diana Roloff, appearing on a podcast episode of TopMedTalk.
